Hanging your artwork
Placement
The correct placement and hanging is important if you want to get real enjoyment from looking at your pictures. While some options come down to personal choice, there are some suggestions that can make your pictures look better.
Generally hang pictures at eye level. If you want a number of pictures on one wall, try to choose a common theme, whether its the same frame or colouring, or similar subject matter.
If you want to group pictures of different sizes, lay them out on the floor first, then stand well back and see how the arrangement looks.
Fixing to the wall
We finish our frames with 2 "D" rings screwed into the wood and a wire or kevlar cord attached. For best hanging effect, these are set 1/3 of the distance from the top of the frame.
For large or heavy frames it is best to put 2 hooks on the wall and hang the picture from both "D" rings, not using the wire or string. This distributes the weight evenly between 2 points.
You will need to consider the type of wall material, before attaching a hook. We have a variety of screws and hooks for sale, and can advise you on the best choice for your needs.
Hanging Systems

Want a better way to hang pictures?
If you have a lot of pictures on your walls, or you don't want to (or are not allowed to) put holes all over the walls, or you want to be able to change the arrangement from time to time, then we recommend using a hanging system.
Though traditionally used in galleries, hanging systems are becoming more and more popular in rental properties and in homes. They look clean and smart, and are now quite affordable.
They consist of a railing (silver or white aluminium) fixed high on your walls just beneath the cornice, hanging cords (a number of different choices), hooks (again you have choices) corner pieces and joiners if required.
We supply 2 different systems. Peter can explain the subtle differences between the products.
From the railing, hang your runners (choose clear plastic
strips or silver wire) - add as many as you need, and position them
wherever you want.
Add the adjustable hooks, then hang your pictures!
We can help you to work out what you need. We can even recommend a carpenter who is familiar with installing these system!
For stunning affect, both systems also has small spotlights which attach to the railing. Put one over a large painting, or in the corner, and you have a real exhibition piece.
